Step-by-Step Instructions for Chicken-Fried Mushrooms & Gravy
- Prepare Buttermilk Mixture: Whisk together unsweetened almond milk and apple cider vinegar. Let thicken for 5 minutes.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: Blend together all-purpose flour, cornstarch, sweet paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, turmeric, kosher salt, and black pepper.
- Coat the Mushrooms: Dip oyster mushrooms into the buttermilk, then coat them thoroughly in the seasoned flour mixture.
- Heat Oil for Frying: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the Mushrooms: Fry coated mushrooms in batches for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
