Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Prepare your baking dish by greasing it lightly.
  2. Peel and slice sweet potatoes into thin rounds. Boil in water for 10-15 minutes until tender. Drain and cool.
  3. Layer half of the sweet potato slices in the baking dish, then add half of the cranberries on top.
  4. Mix heavy cream, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, and pepper. Pour half over the layered sweet potatoes and cranberries.
  5. Repeat the layering with remaining sweet potatoes and cranberries, then pour the remaining cream mixture on top.
  6. Sprinkle shredded Gruyère cheese and breadcrumbs over the top.
  7. Bake in the oven for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
  8. Let the gratin cool for a few minutes before serving.
