Equipment

  • saucepan
  • resealable bag

Method

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water to create a slurry. In a saucepan, combine this mixture with brown sugar, soy sauce, garlic, rice vinegar, ginger, honey, and sesame oil. Stir frequently over medium heat until the sauce slightly thickens, then remove from heat and allow it to cool completely.
  2. Cut the chicken into uniform cubes. Place the chicken in a resealable bag and pour in half of the cooled teriyaki sauce, ensuring the chicken is well coated. Seal the bag and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Set your grill to medium heat. If using wooden skewers, ensure they have been soaked. Remove the chicken from the marinade, thread onto skewers.
  4. Grill the skewers for 20-30 minutes, turning every 3-4 minutes. Baste with reserved teriyaki sauce during the last few minutes.
  5. Remove from grill and let sit for a couple of minutes. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions and serve hot.
