  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan with cooking spray or butter.
  2. Combine 2 cups of ricotta cheese, 1 cup of granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract in a bowl. Beat until smooth and creamy. Gradually add 3 large eggs, mixing well after each addition.
  3. Prepare the chocolate cake layer according to box instructions by combining the dry mix with ½ cup of oil, 1 cup of water, and 3 eggs. Whisk until smooth.
  4. Pour the chocolate batter into the greased pan, then pour the ricotta mixture over the top without mixing.
  5. Bake for approximately 1 to 1 hour and 10 minutes till a toothpick comes out clean but slightly jiggly.
  6. Allow the cake to cool in the pan to room temperature.
