Baking Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Line an 8x8 inch baking dish with parchment paper and grease it lightly.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine softened butter with granulated sugar and cream together on medium speed for about 2 minutes.
  3. Add in the plain flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt and mix on low speed until crumbly. Press the mixture into the bottom of the baking dish.
  4. Bake the crust for 15-20 minutes until lightly golden. Allow to cool slightly.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, brown sugar, maple syrup, heavy cream, vanilla extract, additional flour, and a pinch of salt for about 2 minutes.
  6. Once the crust has cooled, sprinkle chopped walnuts over it and pour the filling over evenly.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes until the filling is firm and a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Cool completely in the pan before refrigerating for 30 minutes. Lift out and cut into 16 squares.
