Cooking Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté for 5 minutes.
- Add 1 pound of lean ground beef (or lamb) and cook for 6-8 minutes until browned.
- Stir in 1 tablespoon of Italian seasoning, 2 tablespoons of tomato paste, and 2 tablespoons of flour, mixing well.
- Pour in 1 cup of beef broth and 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce. Cook for 1 minute until thickened.
- Add 2 cups of frozen mixed vegetables and cook for 3 minutes, mixing well.
- Transfer the mixture into a 9x13-inch baking dish and smooth it out evenly.
- Arrange 1 bag of frozen tater tots over the filling evenly.
- Bake uncovered for about 40 minutes, until bubbly and golden brown.
- Optionally, broil for a few minutes for extra crunch, then let sit before serving.
