Preparation Steps
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and butter a 9-inch baking pan.
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine cornstarch, lemon juice, and white sugar, stirring until it thickens, about 3–5 minutes. Fold in strawberries and transfer to the baking dish.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the cold butter until coarse crumbs form. Stir in heavy cream.
- Sprinkle the topping over the strawberry filling and bake for about 25 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown.
- Allow to cool for 5 minutes, then serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
