Ingredients

For the Chocolate Cake Layer
  • 0.5 cups Unsalted Butter Provides moisture and richness; substitute with margarine or vegan butter if desired.
  • 1 cups Semi-Sweet Chocolate Adds a deep chocolate flavor, essential for the ganache; chocolate chips can be used as an alternative.
  • 1 cups Granulated Sugar Sweetens both the cake and cheesecake; feel free to experiment with alternative sweeteners, though they may affect texture.
  • 1 cups All-Purpose Flour Gives structure to the cake; consider using gluten-free flour blends for a different take.
For the Baked Cheesecake
  • 16 oz Cream Cheese Key for a creamy texture and tang; full-fat is best for flavor and consistency; low-fat options can change the outcome.
  • 1 cups Sour Cream Adds moisture and a hint of tanginess; Greek yogurt can be a great substitute.
  • 3 units Eggs Uses in the cheesecake for binding and texture; ensure they’re at room temperature for best results.
  • 1 cups Granulated Sugar
For the Oreo Mousse
  • 2 cups Heavy Whipping Cream Integrates richness into both the mousse and ganache; consider light cream for a lighter version.
  • 0.5 cups Powdered Sugar Sweetens the mousse; sugar substitutes can also be used if necessary.
  • 4 oz White Chocolate Enhances flavor and richness; optional if you prefer a lighter mousse.
For the Ganache Frosting
  • 1 cups Heavy Whipping Cream Essential for creating a smooth and creamy ganache; adjust the amount if you prefer a thicker consistency.
  • 8 oz Semi-Sweet Chocolate Provides depth of flavor and smooth texture; mixing brands can offer unique variations.

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions for Oreo Dream Cheesecake
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Melt 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate and ½ cup of unsalted butter over low heat, stirring until smooth. In a mixing bowl, whisk together 1 cup of granulated sugar and 3 large eggs until well blended. Gradually stir in the melted chocolate mixture, followed by 1 cup of all-purpose flour. Pour into a greased 9-inch springform pan and bake for 30-35 minutes.
  2. While the cake layer is cooling, beat 16 oz of cream cheese and 1 cup of granulated sugar until creamy. Mix in 1 cup of sour cream and 3 eggs until smooth. Gently fold in 12 chopped Oreos. Pour this mixture over the cooled chocolate cake layer. Bake in a water bath at 325°F (160°C) for about 1 hour.
  3. Allow the cheesecake to cool in the pan for at least 1 hour, then transfer it to the refrigerator to chill for several hours or overnight.
  4. Beat 2 cups of heavy whipping cream with ½ cup of powdered sugar until stiff peaks form, then fold in 4 oz of melted white chocolate. Spread the mousse evenly over the cooled cheesecake.
  5. For ganache, heat 1 cup of heavy whipping cream until simmering, then pour over 8 oz of semi-sweet chocolate. Let it sit for 5 minutes to melt, then whisk until smooth. Spread over the mousse layer.
  6. Decorate with crushed Oreos. Chill for another 2-3 hours. Remove the sides of the springform pan and slice with a warmed knife to serve.
