  1. In a small bowl, combine warm milk with active dry yeast. Let sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, and salt until combined.
  3. Pour the yeast mixture into the dry ingredients and add melted butter, egg, red food coloring, and vanilla. Stir until a chunky dough forms.
