Cooking Steps
- Begin by washing the mushrooms under cool water. Pat them dry and slice into 1/4-inch rounds.
- Combine flour, salt, and black pepper in a bowl.
- If using, whisk the egg and milk together in a separate bowl.
- Coat each mushroom slice in flour, optional egg mixture, and again in flour or breadcrumbs.
- Heat vegetable oil in a skillet to 350°F.
- Fry the mushrooms in small batches for 3-4 minutes, flip and fry 2-3 more minutes.
- Transfer fried mushrooms to paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Serve mushrooms with ranch dressing and additional dipping sauces.
