- Pat dry the chicken and season with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear chicken for 4-5 minutes per side until golden, then set aside.
- In the same skillet, reduce heat, melt butter, and sauté finely diced onion for 3-4 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
- Add rinsed basmati rice to the skillet and stir for about a minute. Pour in chicken broth, season with salt and pepper, and bring to a boil. Cover and simmer for 15-18 minutes until rice is tender.
