Cooking Instructions
- Start by boiling a large pot of salted water over high heat. Add the penne pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- In a large pot, add the chopped bacon and heat over medium-high until crispy, about 6-8 minutes. Remove bacon and drain on paper towels, leaving 1 tablespoon of grease in the pot.
- Add cubed chicken to the same pot, seasoned with salt and pepper. Sauté over medium heat for 6-7 minutes until browned and cooked through.
- Toss in minced onion and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until translucent. Add minced garlic and stir for another minute.
- Pour in chicken broth, then add sour cream, cream cheese, ranch dressing mix, and crispy bacon. Stir together and bring to a gentle boil for 2-3 minutes.
- Fold in cheddar cheese and cooked penne until everything is combined and cheese is melted, about 3-5 minutes.
- Remove from heat and garnish with chopped green onions. Serve immediately.
