Method
 

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine 4 cups of water, 2 cinnamon sticks, and 1 tablespoon of sliced fresh ginger. Add 1 tablespoon of anise seeds and a pinch of freshly grated nutmeg. Bring to a boil.
  2. Reduce the heat to low and cover the saucepan. Allow it to simmer gently for 1 to 1.5 hours, stirring occasionally.
  3. Stir in ½ cup of granulated sugar, return to low heat, and dissolve completely.
  4. Carefully strain the tea through a fine mesh sieve into a heatproof pitcher, discarding the solids.
  5. Place a layer of chopped nuts at the bottom of each cup and pour the tea over them. Serve immediately.
