Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the manicotti shells in a large pot of salted boiling water for about 6-7 minutes until al dente, drain and cool.
  3. In a skillet, brown the ground beef and Italian sausage with diced onion for about 8 minutes.
  4. Add minced garlic, sauté for 1 minute, and mix in marinara sauce. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Combine ricotta, 1 cup mozzarella, Parmesan, egg, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper in a bowl until smooth.
  6. Spread half the meat sauce in a baking dish, fill the manicotti shells, and place them seam-side down.
  7. Top with remaining meat sauce and sprinkle with rest of mozzarella. Cover with foil.
  8. Bake for 30 minutes, uncover and bake an additional 10 minutes until cheese is golden.
  9. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
