  • 1 cup white cheddar cheese freshly grated
  • 2 cups heavy cream or half-and-half for a lighter option
  • 1 cup milk any type based on preference
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter use olive oil for a dairy-free option
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour or gluten-free flour

  • 3/4 cup plain breadcrumbs or Panko breadcrumbs for extra texture

Method
 

Cooking Instructions
  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil. Add your chosen short pasta and cook until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter. Whisk in 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour until light golden, about 1 minute.
  3. Gradually pour in 2 cups of heavy cream while whisking. Stir for 3-4 minutes until thickened. Mix in 8 ounces of Boursin cheese and 1 cup of white cheddar.
  4. Add the drained pasta to the cheese sauce and stir gently to coat. Let it rest for a few minutes.
  5. In a skillet, melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter and sauté 3/4 cup of breadcrumbs until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
  6. Transfer the pasta mixture to a greased baking dish, sprinkle the breadcrumbs on top, and serve immediately or broil for 2-3 minutes.
