- Begin by measuring 2 cups of cooled, plain mashed potatoes.

- Gradually incorporate between 1½ to 2 cups of flour, mixing until a soft and manageable dough forms.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently knead it just a few times to bring it together.
- Shape the dough into a round that is about 1-inch thick and cut it into four wedges, known as farls.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat with a light grease of butter or oil.
- Cook each farl for 3–4 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove the farls from the skillet and allow them to rest for a minute before serving warm.
